Marc began his journey as a wine enthusiast in 1984, inspired by the excellent Bordeaux vintage of 1982. In addition to earning the certificate of ‘Wijnkenner’, his knowledge of wine has been primarily shaped by hands-on experience and a passionate drive for deep understanding.
In 2008, Marc discovered German wine, which led to the creation of his blog, Vrienden van de Riesling in 2011. With a keen eye for detail and a desire to explore German Rieslings, the blog has evolved into a community of like-minded enthusiasts to discuss German wines. Over time, this has built a depth of expertise that is truly unique in Belgium.
To broaden his horizons, Marc also writes about other wines on his blog Wijnkrabbels. Additionally, he contributes as a guest writer for Ken Wijn-magazine, published by the Vlaamse Wijngilde, and is part of the editorial team of the online wine magazine wijnwijnwijn.
In 2020 Marc began writing the book ‘Wijnland Duitsland’, together with Gerd Brabant. The first edition was published in April 2021, and the book is currently in its third, fully revised edition.
