Grape Masters S02E02 – Zuccardi Wines, Argentina.

We are excited to bring you the second episode of Season 2 of Grape Masters, featuring a true pioneer of the Argentine wine industry: José Alberto Zuccardi of Zuccardi Wines.

Situated in the Uco Valley, Zuccardi Wines is a family-run estate known for its deep commitment to terroir, tradition, and innovation. From its origins as an irrigation project in the 1960s to its rise as one of the world’s top wineries, Zuccardi’s journey is a testament to vision and perseverance. In this episode, José Alberto shares how he helped shape the global perception of Argentine Malbec and how his son, Sebastián, is further refining their focus on high-altitude, terroir-driven wines.

Highlights from the Episode

  • The roots of Zuccardi Wines – how a simple irrigation experiment in Mendoza blossomed into a world-renowned winery.
  • The Malbec revolution – how Argentina took this once-overlooked grape and made it its own.
  • Terroir and elevation – the unique soil and climate of the Uco Valley that make Zuccardi’s wines stand out.
  • Innovation in winemaking – the move towards concrete fermentation, large foudres, and organic viticulture.
  • Sustainability and community – how Zuccardi is leading the way in environmentally friendly and socially responsible winemaking.

A Legacy in Motion

With Zuccardi Wines earning the title of World’s Best Vineyard for three consecutive years, José Alberto’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and a deep love for the land. Looking ahead, the winery is pushing boundaries with high-altitude white wines, experimenting with lesser-known grape varieties, and championing natural, low-intervention winemaking.
