Nyetimber Sparkling Rosé MV.
Although Nyetimber has a strong affinity for Chardonnay, their sparkling range also includes a standout expression centered around Pinot Noir: the multi-vintage sparkling rosé. This wine has a distinct identity of its own—elegant, surprising, and perfectly suited for sunny days and lively terraces, but it doesn’t stop there. Let’s take a closer look at this remarkable cuvée.
About the Winery
Nyetimber stands as a trailblazer in English sparkling wine, renowned for its dedication to quality and innovation. Established in 1988 in West Sussex, it was the first English estate to cultivate classic Champagne grape varieties—Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier—solely for sparkling wine production.
Owned by Dutch entrepreneur Eric Heerema, Nyetimber has gained international acclaim through meticulous craftsmanship and strategic vineyard expansion. The estate spans over 425 hectares across West Sussex, Hampshire, and Kent, benefiting from ideal chalk and greensand soils that mirror those of Champagne.
Under the expertise of winemakers Cherie Spriggs and Brad Greatrix, Nyetimber has cemented its reputation for excellence, often rivalling top Champagne houses. Their commitment to precision—from hand-harvesting to long lees aging—ensures that each bottle reflects the estate’s hallmark style of finesse, complexity, and balance.
About the Wine
Crafted in the heart of the South Downs, the Nyetimber Rosé Multi-Vintage is a stunning example of English sparkling wine excellence. The blend is composed of 53% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay, and 2% Pinot Meunier, vinified in Nyetimber’s signature multi-vintage style. The base wines rest on the lees for over three years, a process that enhances complexity and depth. This cuvée captures the spirit of an English summer, with elegance and vibrancy at its core.
From Bottle to Glass
In the glass, this sparkling rosé glows with a radiant antique pink hue, tinged with copper reflections—a colour that immediately evokes a summer sunset. Fine, persistent bubbles rise gracefully, adding to the wine’s visual allure.
On the nose, a fragrant bouquet of British summer fruits—wild strawberries, redcurrants, raspberries and cherries—emerges alongside delicate floral notes of alyssum and a hint of red mango. Subtle layers of shortbread, cardamom, and star anise lend a gentle spiced complexity. The wine continues to unfold in the glass, offering nuances of red liquorice and honey.
The palate is round and creamy, with a soft yet structured mousse that elevates the fruit-driven core. Vibrant red berry flavours are complemented by zesty citrus and a whisper of pastry-like richness. There is an underlying savory tension that keeps everything fresh and in balance. The finish is long, elegant, and satisfying, lingering with impressions of redcurrant, cherry, and buttery short crust pastry.
Despite its celebratory pink hue, this rosé is far more than a summer fling. It is structured, gastronomic, and built for year-round enjoyment.
